Today's Purchases: Mecca Maxima

Well hello there! I feel like every time I come back to blog I'm always finding excuses as to why I haven't posted in a while, and it's always the same reason... the devil (studying). Internally, as well as actually coming through the speakers on my laptop, Work by Rihanna has been playing for the last 2 months. Nonetheless, I have a two week break coming up very soon which is needed, to say the least.

Today I found some time to sneak away and go shopping, and I found some really precious items, which hasn't happened for quite some time! I spent a while in Mecca Maxima going a little nuts over all the products and decided to treat myself to some things I have had my eye on:

I love a concealer that isn't too thick in texture but still has a dense coverage without looking cakey, and this is exactly what NARS has created. After testing it, my skin looked so flawless and colour-corrected and I instantly fell in love. At $46, it is a little more on the pricey side although because it has such a rich texture, you only need a few drops to last you.

I've recently had struggles with the way my makeup has been blending. I personally don't love how brushes apply foundations as they can come out streaky and cakey, so I purchased this Contour Sphere to try and combat the streaks and save the cake for my plate, not my face. I haven't used it as of yet, but I love how soft the sponge is, as a lot of the time beauty blenders can be quite dense which I don't particularly love. It is also a unique shape which can be used for many purposes such as simply applying foundation or blending your contour. This sponge was $15, although for those who want the most value for their money, can check out Game Face HD Sponge Set by Kit Cosmetics, which includes 3 different beauty blenders at $38.

I think all of us tend to find our skin complexion isn't always perfect and sometimes, we seek a little bit of a boost. I notice I get a somewhat rosy cheeks and dark circles under my eyes (thankyou, exams) and concealer doesn't always completely cancel out those darker colours or redness. One Step Correct by Stila is a mixture of purple, green and peach coloured pastes which are used as a primer before foundation. Lately, I've seen many people using these different coloured concealers after foundation and primarly on the significant spots where it is needed, but what I think is incredibly genius about this product is that it acts as a primer, as well as balances out all of the different sorts of discolouration to give the face a bright, vibrant and even-coloured skin tone, even without adding foundation or powder. At $58, this product is also a little more on the pricey side, although it is like having 4 different products in one, which rectifies spending a little bit more.

Anyone who knows me, or has read any of my other posts, can definitely vouch for the fact I am serious when it comes to my eyebrows. I believe they are the one thing that can change your whole face depending on how they're shaped, and sometimes we don't even realise just how much of a difference it makes until we shape our brows to perfection. Over the years, I have tried countless, and I mean countless products on my brows, some being better than others. The Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil by Hourglass has got to be the best one I have come across so far, which makes me very excited. Finding the best colour for my brows has been a hard task - many brands only cater for blondes and brunettes. I have dark brown hair but my eyebrows have grey-black tones which makes things a little harder. Black is too dark, and brown is too light... but lo and behold, Hourglass saved the day. The 'Ash' colour is exactly what I have been looking for and using it, I feel like I'm applying my exact eyebrow colour. Not only is the colour perfect, but the angled-shape of the pencil makes the strokes that much more natural, the spooly on the opposite end is so luscious and cushiony and the outside of the pencil and the box it comes in are so chic! This product is $51 but I personally believe when you find something you can't go wrong with, it is worth spending that little bit extra. I could go on for days about this, but instead, I definitely recommend this product the most out of all my precious finds.

Overall, today was a successful day of shopping. Retail therapy was, is, and always will be the best therapy.
